The 30th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment is the infantry regiment recruited in Virginia for the Confederate Army during the US Civil War . He fought mainly in West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Formation
The 30th Virgin Regiment was formed at the Camp Mercer camp near Fredericksburg on June 13, 1861. His companies were recruited in Frederiksbeg and the Spotsilvaini , Caroline , Stafford and King George counties. On June 15, Colonel R. M. Carey became his first commander [1] . By order of June 8, the regiment was included in the Confederate army. The regiment was sent to Manassas, but arrived on the spot on July 21 at 8 pm and did not manage to take part in the first battle of Bull Run.
Battle Path
The regiment was included in the John Walker brigade and participated in the Seven-Day Battle , where he lost 1 man killed and 4 wounded in the battle of Malvern Hill. During the Maryland campaign, the regiment was in Walker's division, in the Van Manning brigade, and commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Cheuu. During the battle of Entityam, he and the entire Van Manning brigade supported the attack of the MacLouse division. During this campaign, the regiment lost 39 people killed and 121 wounded. In the late autumn of 1862, the regiment was transferred to the Montgomery Corsay brigade and as part of this brigade took part in the battle of Frederiksberg.
Interesting Facts
- In 1862, an ode to Private Company A, James Cox married Lucy Ann White Cox, who became famous for accompanying her husband on campaigns [2] .
