Venix 2.0 is based on Unix System III , runs on the DEC Professional 350 microcomputer (Venix / PRO) and on IBM- compatible personal computers (Venix / 86 and Venix / 286). Since version 3.0, Unix System V was taken as the basis.
Venix also contains some features from BSD : csh and vi .
The latest version of Venix 4.2.1, based on UNIX System V Release 4.2 ( UnixWare ), was released in 1994. The workstation version supported real-time capabilities, NFS , TCP / IP networking , X Window , OPEN LOOK, and Motif graphical user interfaces and Veritas journaled file system ( vxfs ). The developer version also included an ANSI C compiler , a real-time function library , GUI development software, real-time program development tools, and select drivers for industrial I / O devices .
