Francisco Menendez Valdivieso ( December 3, 1830 - June 22, 1890 ) - General, President of El Salvador from June 22, 1885 to March 1, 1887, and also from March 1, 1887 until his death on June 22, 1890 . General Francisco Menendez was born in Auachapan on December 3, 1830, and died in San Salvador on June 22, 1890. His parents were Jose Eustachian Menendez and Gabriela Valdivieso, wealthy landowners.

In 1858, General Menendez married Boniface Salazar. At the age of forty-one, he took part in the revolution of 1871 . On June 22, 1885, at the age of forty-five, General Menendez became president of El Salvador.

The great-grandson of Francisco Menendez Valdivieso - Ricardo Valdivieso is a well-known Salvadoran businessman and far-right politician.
