The Trinity Church is an Orthodox church in the village of Mediany, Kirov Region of Russia [1] . Object of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation, a monument of architecture [1] . The church is currently in a dilapidated state [2] .

The ancient Vyatka village of Medyan was first mentioned in the scribal books of Domozhirov and Tolochanov of 1629 and the scribe Karaulov of 1654. At that time, two warm churches of Dimitry of Solunsky and the cold church of the Prophet Elijah were already standing in the village [3] .
The wooden churches decayed and in their place a new wooden church was built in the name of St. Demetrios of Thessalonica with a chapel in honor of the Holy Prophet Elijah. In the first half of the 18th century , instead of this church, a new wooden church was built in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius with a chapel in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos [4] .
In 1750, on the request of the clergy and parishioners, by decree of the Spiritual Consistory, dated June 19, No. 633, it was allowed to dismantle the dilapidated wooden outside church.
In 1753, the parish with parishioners appealed to the Diocesan Administration with the request for permission to build a stone church in the name of St. Demetrius with a chapel in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. The construction of this temple is permitted by decree of the Spiritual Consistory, dated August 4, No. 509. By March of the following year, materials were prepared. By the Decree of the Spiritual Consistory, dated March 11, 1754, No. 398, it was allowed to proceed with the laying of the church. The stone side church, by construction, was consecrated in the name of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos [5] .
In 1818, the building of the bell tower was built, and in 1878 the warm temple was rebuilt, expanded, and two chapels were consecrated again in honor of the Meeting of the Lord and the martyr Demetrios of Thessalonica. In 1870, the parish of the church consisted of 105 settlements (399 yards, 6587 people) [2] . At the beginning of the 20th century, Nikolai Agafonnikov bore his holy orders in the Trinity Church; he was later arrested and sentenced to death in 1937. During the years of the Stalinist repressions, two more of his brothers Alexander and Vladimir were shot, as well as their father Vasily Agafonnikov, who served as clerk in the Trinity Church of the village of Median. By the jubilee council of the bishops of 2000, all of them were numbered as martyrs . In the city of Podolsk, Moscow region, the church was consecrated in the name of the martyr Nikolai Agafonnikov [6] .
In 1938, the temple was closed. The dome of the church and the upper tier of the bell tower were destroyed. After the war, machine and tractor workshops (MTS) were placed in the church building. For the arrival of tractors in the building, the altar was demolished and entrance gates were arranged in its place. The building was only released in the early 1990s. For 13 years the church has been empty and destroyed. On the roof of the abandoned building a fire broke out and destroyed the roof of the church.
In 1991, the parish community was created in the village. For more than a decade, the elderly Cossacks built their parish life without a superior and a priest. Divine services in the prayer house of the village of Medyani [2] , located in the old house of the median parish, were rarely held. The first service was held in 1991 [2] . Through the zeal of the parishioners and benefactors, the Median rural council and the leadership of the Median farm in the village each year more than 25 thousand pilgrims of Velikoretsky procession .
In October 2013, the rector, Archpriest Andrei Dudin, was appointed to the parish of the Trinity Church in the village of Medyan. The reconstruction of the prayer house is under way, a project is being prepared and the restoration of the stone Trinity Church.
