History
In the village of Brynkovo (Matveytsevo tozh) the wooden church of St. George existed since ancient times, but was destroyed in the Time of Troubles .
In 1628, the owner of the village, Lev Ivanovich Dolmatov-Karpov, resumed the church, which stood until 1826 and was disassembled for disrepair.
The modern stone building of the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with the chapel of St. Nicholas was built in 1701.
In 1850, an apse , a refectory and a bell tower were built, later two thrones were built in the refectory: the right one was dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (consecrated on July 4, 1865) and the left one was George the Victorious, consecrated on August 27, 1867.
In the church there was a locally honored icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy”.
In Soviet times, the temple was closed and partially destroyed.
From the period of occupation of 1941/42, the German newsreel preserved, where the interior of the church and its appearance were recorded [1]
Reopened in 1988, worship resumed in 2001.
The temple is currently undergoing emergency response. In 2006, electricity was supplied to the temple. The church house was renovated [2] . Services are performed mainly in the summer.
