Biography
Emilios Prosalentis was born in 1859 on the island of Kerkyra . He came from a famous kind of island and was the son of the artist Spiridon Prosalentis . His brother, Pavlos , also became a famous artist. He received his first painting lessons in Kerkyra, from his father.
In Paris, he studied as an engineer. Returning to Greece, Prosalentis entered the Navy.
Initially, his painting was limited to oil painting, and the theme was exclusively marine.
In the last years of his life he painted watercolors. Among the famous paintings of Prosalentis are: Torpedo “Fethi Bulent” [3] , the cruiser “Miaulis”, Naval battle at the Dardanelles, Breakthrough brig of Aris from Navarin, Burning of the Turkish flagship in Eresos and others κ.ά. [4] . Emilios Prosalentis died in 1926, in Athens.
