History
The viaduct was built in 1900 by Austro-Hungarian military engineers to ensure unhindered traffic at the intersection of roads along Bronislava Street (today George George’s Alley) to Fort 2 Kosciuszko and the ring road (today Malchevsky Street), which connected the military facilities of the Cracow Fortress . To prevent traffic from crossing, a mound about 4 meters high was built over the ring road, which was strengthened by a viaduct made of brick and limestone.
On June 14, 1988, the bridge was added to the register of cultural monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (A-793 [1] ).
In 2010, a general reconstruction of the bridge was carried out, stone retaining walls, a brick arch and balustrades were restored, as well as a drainage system [2] .
