Wilhelm Vaukhkonen was born in 1877 in Pieksämäki , the Grand Duchy of Finland . In 1912, at the Olympic Games in Stockholm , speaking for the Finnish team, he took part in competitions in two shooting disciplines, but did not win medals.

After Finland gained independence, Wilhelm Vauchkonen already advocated independent Finland. In 1920, at the Olympic Games in Antwerp, he took part in competitions in eight shooting disciplines, and won two bronze medals.
