Biography
Andrey Lukyanets was born on September 15, 1922 in the village of Zhukovka (now the Baryshevsky district of the Kiev region of Ukraine ). He graduated from high school. In 1940, Lukyanets was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Krasnodar Military Aviation School of Navigators. Since March 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He participated in the Battle of Kursk , was shot down, but managed to jump with a parachute, was picked up by a Soviet intelligence officer and delivered to the location of his unit [1] .
Towards the end of the Guard War, Senior Lieutenant Andrey Lukyanets was the navigator of the link of the 160th Guards Bomber Air Regiment of the 8th Guards Bomber Air Division of the 6th Guards Bomber Air Corps of the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . During the war, he made 164 sorties to bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses on him [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, for “courage, resourcefulness and heroism in the destruction of the encircled enemy group in the city of Breslau” of the guard, senior lieutenant Andrei Lukyanets was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7878 [1] .
After the war ended, Lukyanets continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1974, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Riga . He died on March 8, 1999 [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
