Biography
Andrey Luzhetsky was born on August 5, 1905 in the village of Vypolzovka (now the village of Rzhavets, Prokhorovsky District, Belgorod Region ). He graduated from junior high school. In 1927 - 1929 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1932, Luzhetsky was called up to serve in the internal troops of the OGPU USSR, from 1934 he served in the border troops. In 1936 he graduated from the 3rd frontier school, in 1939 - courses at the Higher Border School [1] .
He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, being the commander of a machine-gun company of the 5th frontier regiment of the NKVD of the USSR. When his company was attacked by superior Finnish troops, Luzhetsky himself fired a machine gun, was seriously wounded, but continued to fight. The company led fierce battles for forty-six days, but held the position [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 26, 1940, Senior Lieutenant Andrei Luzhetsky was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star " number 133 [1] .
At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he served in the Directorate for the Protection of Government and State Agencies of the NKVD of the USSR, accompanied the coffin with Lenin’s body to evacuation to Tyumen . Later he was in the army. In 1944, Luzhetsky graduated from the Frunze Military Academy with an accelerated course. In March 1953, in the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was discharged into the reserve. Lived in Serpukhov . He died on September 9, 1984, and was buried at the Ivanovsk cemetery of Serpukhov [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , World War 1-st degree and the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
