Makharbeg Rutenovich Kokoev (born October 19, 1956 , Tskhinvali , South- Eastern Administrative Okrug , Georgian SSR ) - Soviet and South Ossetian film and theater actor; Minister of Culture of South Ossetia (since 2009).

Biography
Born on October 19, 1956 in Tskhinvali, in the South Ossetian Autonomous Region, in a family of employees. In 1973 he graduated from secondary school No. 2 of the city of Tskhinvali.
He worked at the Kosta Khetagurov State Drama Theater in Tskhinval. He studied at the Shchepkin Theater School in Moscow, and after graduating in 1977, he returned to the Drama Theater in Tskhinvali.
In 1980-1995 he starred in a number of feature films at the Gorky film studios and “Moldova - Film”. He worked in the Chisinau film actor theater, Russian drama theaters in Tiraspol and Vladikavkaz .
Since 1987, he began to combine the acting profession with administrative work. In 1996, he was appointed director of the State Theater "Narty" with the assignment of the duties of artistic director.
Since 2005, he worked as the director of the North Ossetian State Academic Theater named after V. Tkhapsaev .
On November 12, 2009, he was appointed by President Eduard Kokoity as Minister of Culture of South Ossetia [1] .
Married. Has two children.
