The general parliamentary elections of 1886 were held on 23 (first round) and on May 30 (second round). [1] 508 members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Italy were elected.

The winner of the election was the ruling liberal party "Left" , representing the Italian bourgeoisie . [2] , receiving almost 58% of the seats in parliament. [3] Prime Minister Agostino Depretis remained in power. Opposition parties - Right and Far Left - were led by Marquis Antonio Starabba and poet Felice Cavallotti, respectively.
Voter activity has slightly decreased compared to previous elections. 1,415,801 people out of 2,420,327 who had the right to vote took part in the vote (the Italian population at that time was about 30 million), thus the turnout was 58.50%. [four]
