Biography

Born in Chisinau in the family of Aron Usherovich Mirsky and his wife Raizle. In 1931 he graduated from the Lyceum of Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau . [1] He studied at the Faculty of Geography, University of Iasi . After the accession of Bessarabia to the USSR in 1940 he returned to Chisinau; in 1942 he graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Odessa University evacuated to Bayram-Ali . He taught geography at a secondary school and pedagogical school in Frunze , from 1944 - at the Chisinau pedagogical school, in 1945-1947 - at the Chisinau Pedagogical Institute named after Ion Creanga.

Since 1947, he was a researcher at the Research Institute of Schools of the Ministry of Education of the MSSR (since 1956, he was a senior researcher). Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (1953). At the same time, since 1954 - at the Department of Economic Geography of the Tiraspol Teachers Institute . [2] Engaged in the methodology of teaching geography in high school, the organization of local history work; published in the journals “Soviet pedagogy” and “Geography at school”. Since the early 1970s - at the Faculty of Economics at the Chisinau Pedagogical Institute . [3]

He is the author of school textbooks on the geography of Moldova in Russian and Moldavian languages, a textbook on natural history for elementary schools. [4] Honored teacher of the school of the Moldavian SSR (1968).

Family

  • His wife is the Moldovan children's writer and translator Lyubov Shulimovna Mirskaya (nee Fradis, 1919-1981), the author of the translation of Kalevala into Moldavian .
