Biography
Born in an officer family. In 1957 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physical Culture. It was distributed in Ulyanovsk. He began his career as a trainer and teacher of the youth sports school, later he became its director and coach of the Ulyanovsk region athletics team.
In 1970-1972 - Coached athletes in Bulgaria, since 1972 - at the Faculty of Physical Education of the Ulyanovsk Pedagogical Institute. Among his students, Tatyana Kazankina, world record holder in the 1,500-meter race.
He was a member of the Presidium of the Russian Association of Athletics Veterans. He prepared a textbook on athletics for pedagogical universities in athletics (2003), which was reprinted six times. In recent years, he was an assistant professor of physical education at the Ulyanovsk Higher Aviation School of Civil Aviation.
He participated in veteran competitions: in his age category he set several Russian high jump records, in 1998 in the USA and in 2002 in Australia he became a bronze medalist of the IV and V Olympic Games among sports veterans.
