Biography

 
Anna Ivanovna Gorchakova

The son of a secret advisor Nikita Peshchurov (28.3.1742–24.7.1814) and his wife Varvara Sibileva (1746—1811). The family also had a son, Nicholas, who was killed in the Battle of Friedland [1] and a daughter, Elizabeth; in 1808, commissioned by Nikita Ivanovich Rombauer wrote portraits of Nikita Ivanovich, his wife Varvara, their son Alexei Nikitich, daughter Elizabeth Nikitichny and future wife Alexei Nikitich Elizabeth Khristoforovna Comneno and her sister Catherine Khristoforovna - located since 1938 in the All-Russian Museum A.S. Pushkin [2] .

Father is a cousin of Prince M. A. Gorchakov : my aunt Peschurova, Anna Ivanovna (1739–?) Was married to Prince Alexei Ivanovich Gorchakov (1737-1805) [3] . The military service recorded January 8, 1783 at the age of three. He came to the place of registry in the Semenov Life Guards Regiment in May 1795. He retired with the rank of captain in 1803.

From January 6, 1804 to February 2, 1816, he was director of the State Loan Bank, retired with the rank of State Counselor . In 1823–1827, he was the leader of the nobility of the Opochtsky district , in 1827–1829 - the Pskov provincial leader of the nobility; in 1829-1830, Vitebsk governor [ clarify ] .

By decree of January 28, 1830, he was appointed Pskov civil governor . When it organized the first provincial public library (1833). The newspaper Pskov Provincial Gazette (1838) began to appear. From November 29, 1839, by decree of Nicholas I, he was appointed senator with the retention of the governor’s salary.

Peshchurov, who was entrusted with the supervision of A. Pushkin during his exile in Mikhailovskoye , tried to make the poet's life easier. He actually lifted the ban from Pushkin on not leaving him outside the estate and allowed him to visit all the cities of the Pskov province and beyond. The poet visited the estate Peshchurov Lamonov, located 69 miles from Mikhailovsky. The governor took part in the troubles of the burial of Pushkin in the Svyatogorsk monastery .

Peshchurov played a significant role in the life of the artist PF Sokolov . Thanks to his pro-government, the future painter entered the Academy of Arts at public expense. Later he helped Sokolov with the service, identifying him in the department under his jurisdiction.

He died on November 2, 1849 and was buried in a family crypt in the estate of Lyamonovo.

His wife (since 10.11.1809) was Elizaveta Khristoforovna Kommeno (c. 1793 - after 1863), the daughter of General Christopher Kommeno from his marriage with Princess Maria Muruzi ; her older sister, Ekaterina Komneno, is the wife of the Bessarabian vice-governor Matvey Krupensky . She was married at the insistence of the mother of the wealthy Pskov landowner Peshchurov almost immediately after his departure from the Smolny Institute . Crowned in St. Petersburg church of the Entry into the temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Life Guards Semenov regiment . Very pretty, but poor Elizabeth Komdeno never wanted to go beyond the person she disliked, who was very stooped (almost hunchbacked) and had an ugly face. Immediately after the wedding, she was taken away by her husband to his estate, the village of Lyamonovo, Opochetsky district of the Pskov province (69 versts from Mikhailovsky ), after she lived in Pskov, and with the appointment of his senator in 1839, she returned to St. Petersburg. According to a relative, a clever Peshchurov surrounded his wife with exquisite attention and managed to tie her to himself. She doted on him and called him “my angel Alexis”. Their happiness lasted until the very death of Peshchurov, although everyone knew, and Elizaveta Khristoforovna herself, that her husband was paying attention to a beautiful woman who was made a housekeeper; but jealousy only strengthened his wife's love [4] .
