History
The temple was built in 1903 and during its construction it was called the "Temple in memory of the Ascension of the Lord." Then the temple had a feast day - the day of the Ascension of the Lord.
A marching (with a regiment) temple was established in 1910. It was located in one of the barracks of the former 5th Turkestan Rifle Regiment, located in the Russian part of Samarkand, not far from the Russian Orthodox cemetery, founded in 1900.
In 1912 it was called the “Temple of the 2nd Turkestan Rifle Brigade”. It accommodated up to 300 people, had rich church utensils and an iconostasis (not preserved). According to the state, one priest is assigned to the temple.
In 1930, the temple, like many temples in Uzbekistan, was closed. In early 1998, it was restored and named the “Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos”, in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The temple building is built of burnt bricks. It has a huge bell tower. The temple has a molar hall with an iconostasis and choral rooms. A feature of the temple is a light attic.
Today, the priest Roman Zagrebelny is serving in the church.
