Like the previous War Master album, it was released on Earache Records with producer Colin Richards and the band members themselves as co-producer. The album was recorded at the new Sawmill Studios in August 1992 . The album was released in October 1992 in the UK , in the United States it was much later - January 26, 1993 .
The album is dedicated to the fourth crusade and the subsequent fall of Constantinople . The cover of the album is a picture of Eugene Delacour's “Crusaders Entrance to Constantinople ” (1204, painting of 1840).
Compared to the previous War Master album, the sound has become denser, guitar riffs are lower and heavier. The pace of the songs slowed significantly. Doom motifs appeared in the album, which had not existed before, due to the influence of doom metal bands such as Candlemass and Black Sabbath on the creative group. Elements of grindcore are completely in the past. The most pronounced death / doom metal in the songs “This Time It's War” and “As the World Burns”.
The original version of the album includes 11 tracks. However, the 1996 reissue also has two additional tracks: Crown Life and Lamet.
