Go Home: Live from Slane Castle

Go Home: Live from Slane Castle - a film concert of the Irish rock band U2 , was released on Island Records in November 2003. The concert was shot during a band performance near Slane Castle during the European part of the Elevation Tour . It was the second of two video releases filmed during these tours, the first being Elevation: Live from Boston . The band played two shows at Slane Castle, although traditionally, musicians give one show a year.

Movie

The band performed in Slane for the first time in twenty years, since the 1981 concert, when they played as the opening act for Thin Lizzy . During the Elevation Tour, the musicians played two shows near Slane Castle. Bono's father died of cancer a few days before the second concert, which hit the DVD .

The first concert took place on August 24, the day after the funeral. Bono dedicated the song “Kite” to his father. The second one was held on September 1, 2001, on the same day the Irish national team secured their place at the World Cup . The football match was broadcast to the public before the U2 performance, adding even more festive atmosphere. The concert totaled more than 180,000 spectators [6] .

 Twenty years have passed since we performed in Slane. It was exciting to return to our hometown and play in front of thousands of people again. But Bob’s funeral caused a sense of the end of the “golden times”, and for this reason we were very restrained (emotionally). The second show, a week later, was completely different.
