Fort Meade ( Eng. Fort Meade, Fort George Gordon Meade ) was erected in 1957 for the US National Security Agency .

Location
The fort is located near the town of Laurel in Maryland halfway between Baltimore and Washington .
History
Before conversion to national security needs, it was used as a field training center, and later as a military prison (during the Second World War ).
Safety and security
The security and fire alarm services of the complex of administrative buildings and the security of the secured perimeter of the facility were provided by contract by private contractors (until 1963 - Mercury Maintenance, Inc. with a staff of 130 civilian employees, the company also provided security for the base in Indiana ) [one]
Museum Institutions
Fort Meade also houses the National Museum of Cryptography .
