Family Story

In 1927 , the family of his father (Maxim (Mordkh) Zeilikovich Weiner) emigrated from her native Uman to America , but later settled in Holland , near Rotterdam , in the town of Schidam , where they lived for 13 years. In the book "Shadows over Schiedam 2" ("Schaduwen over Schiedam 2" ISBN 9070450259 , 1996 ) about the fate of the Jews during the years of the German occupation ( 1941 - 1945 ), published on the basis of the Dutch municipal archives, there is a whole chapter "The Weiner Family" in which describes in detail the tragic history of their deportation . For the first time, Weiners came to Armenia in 1941. Thanks to Soviet passports, they were taken from a concentration camp near Berlin at the famous “Special echelon” across Europe to the city of Leninakan (now Gyumri ). Leninakan was the final point of the exchange of Jews - Soviet citizens living in Western Europe , for Germans - diplomats working in the USSR . The horrific events of this exchange are described in the book by Valentin Berezhkov “With a diplomatic mission to Berlin 1940 - 1941 ” ( 1966 ). After two months of staying in the Yerevan storage facility (prison camp behind the Tire Plant), the “politically unreliable” cruel reference to North Kazakhstan ( 1941 - 1946 ) followed. The family left Armenia without the head of the family (grandfather of the composer - Zeylik Mordkovich Weiner), he had to urgently go to the hospital because of the perforation of a stomach ulcer. In the autumn of 1946, grandmother Miriam Weinikovna Weiner (Chervonaia) with four children (Maxim, Klara, Armor and Lida) received permission to leave and returned to Yerevan hoping to find her husband, but no trace of his existence could be found ...

The family of the mother of Willy Weiner Ida Markovna of Jerusalem (with his grandmother - Miriam Pinkhasovnaya Jerusalem home. In 1953 , Ida Markovna graduated from Kiev State University and arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of friends. She was introduced to Maxim Weiner, and Willy was born two years later ...

Maxim Zeylikovich and Ida Markovna together with their children - the son William and daughters Zinaida and Marina - lived in Yerevan for more than 40 years. In November 1993 , they all together with their grandchildren repatriated to Israel , where they settled in the city of Akko . And Willy Weiner still lives and works in his native Yerevan .
