Biography

From the peasants. He studied at the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary , then at the Minsk Roman Catholic Seminary . During training he participated in the Belarusian national-religious movement.

On July 26, 1904 he was ordained a priest . During his service as subdeacon, he preached in the Belarusian language . In 1921-1922 he served in Pinsk , taught at the Lower Theological Seminary in Novogrudok . In 1922 he was appointed prefect of primary and secondary schools in Baranavichy . In the years 1927-1931 - parish priest with. Domachevo , 1932-1939 - Stolin .

Since 1928 - Member of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy .

Since 1929, he collaborated with Belarusian religious publications “Krynica”, “Chryścijanskaja Dumka”, was published on the pages of the Uniate magazine “Yes illusion” (1932-1937).

After the establishment of Soviet power in Belarus, fleeing repression, in 1940 fled to the zone of German occupation. He settled in Warsaw, where he taught at a Belarusian school, served as rector of the Church of St. Martin.

In 1944, before the start of the Warsaw uprising, he went to Vilna , then to Germany. In October 1945 he emigrated to Rome .

In 1945-1949 he studied at the Pontifical Oriental Institute . From September 1950 to 1975 he published the Belarusian Catholic magazine Źnič. In 1950, he organized and until 1970 headed the Belarusian service of the Radio Vatican .

In 1949 he published the Belarusian prayer book “The Voice of the Soul”.

January 21, 1964 was appointed head of the priests of the Latin rite among the Belarusian emigration.
