Career

A native of Irkutsk began to engage in sports under the guidance of trainer Fetisov in 1950 while studying at Taldy-Kurgan secondary school. [1] After graduating with a gold medal, Anatoly entered the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1952, where he continued to play sports.

At the Olympics in Melbourne in 1956, Anatoly participated in the hammer thrower competition and won a bronze medal [2] . At the next Olympics, he became the seventh.

At the Universiade in 1959, Samotsvetov won silver, losing to Hungarian Gyula Zhivotsky .

Four times became the second in the championship of the USSR.
