Shimanovsky, Vladimir Ivanovich

Shimanovsky Vladimir Ivanovich (1879-1918) - Russian revolutionary, social democrat, engineer of communications, participant in the struggle for power of the Soviets in the Far East, chairman of the Central Committee of the Amur Railway. He played an important role in mobilizing the detachments of railway workers - the Red Guards to suppress the Gamovsky rebellion .

Biography

Grandfather, Nikifor Fedorovich Shimanovsky, was a priest of the Bobruisk district of the Mogilev province [1] . His son Ivan Nikiforovich moved to the Far East, was a military doctor in Blagoveshchensk .

Vladimir, having graduated from high school in 1900 , entered the Tomsk Technological Institute. In Tomsk he joined the RSDLP , participated in student unrest in 1903. He took an active part in the revolutionary events of 1905 .

After the break, he continued his studies at the Petersburg Technological Institute, which he graduated in 1909 .

Returning to Blagoveshchensk , he worked as a teacher of geometry and electrical engineering at the River School [2] , for several years he was the chairman of the Amur Society for the Study of Siberia, drew up a project for the construction of a city water supply. Thanks to the intervention of Shimanovsky, it was possible to finance the Annunciation Museum of Local Lore, transferring its funds to a new building [3] . Then he worked in the construction department of the Amur Railway.

Since August 9, 1916 - Head of the main workshops of the Amur Railway in Zilovo. In 1917, Shimanovsky headed the Gondattievsky Council of Workers' Deputies. In February 1918, Amur railway workers elected him chairman of the Central Committee of the Amur Railway, which was actually the main administrative authority on the Amur Railway.

Szymanowski played an important role in mobilizing the detachments of railway workers - the Red Guards to suppress the Gamovsky rebellion . He did a lot for the normal operation of the Amur Railway, for the transportation of military goods from Vladivostok to the center of the country.

In September 1918, by order of the head of the Amur White Guard Government, Alekseevsky, Shimanovsky was arrested, brought before a military field court, and shot dead in Blagoveshchensk on November 20, 1918 .

Memory

  • He was buried in a mass grave at the People’s House (now the territory of the Spartak Stadium), among 118 fighters for Soviet power in the Amur Region [4] .
  • In 1920, the Gondatti station was renamed to Shimanovskaya, and in 1929 to the working village of Shimanovsk. Since 1950, it was transformed into the city of Shimanovsk [5] .
  • His sculptural bust is installed on the platform of the Shimanovskaya railway station.
  • In the city of Blagoveshchensk, Shimanovsky Street was named after him, at the beginning of which (at the intersection with Lenin Street) is the Annunciation State Pedagogical University .
  • In the city of Khabarovsk, Shimanovsky Street was also named in his honor.
