History
In 2007, Japanese rock band Janne Da Arc announced that it was stopping its activity indefinitely. Her vocalist Yasu also began his solo project, a group called Acid Black Cherry.
The group began with the fact that on May 6, 2007, Yasu with Acid Black Cherry went on a secret concert tour. The tour was secret, because the group unexpectedly, without any preliminary announcements, appeared on the opening act (as an “opening act”) with other artists. The tour ended on June 10, 2007 with an undeclared concert (in Japan such concerts are called “ gerilla live”) near the Shinjuku station in Tokyo . The audience was about 5000 people. At the direction of the police, who insisted that it was dangerous to continue, the concert had to be stopped after only two songs: the new song “Black Cherry” and scheduled for release on July 17 as the first single “SPELL MAGIC” [1] .
During rehearsals for a tour in Japan in 2009, a cyst of the vocal cords was found in Yasu. Nevertheless, he did not refuse the tour, and spent all 15 concerts. Two days after the final concert at Budokan on November 2, it was announced that the group would take a break from the treatment of Yasu’s vocal cords [3] .
March 30, 2011 Acid Black Cherry performed in concert in honor of the fourth anniversary of the group, entitled "ABC Dream CUP 2011" and intended as a thank you to the fans [4] .
Released on January 18, 2012, the single Acid Black Cherry “Yes” inspired Japanese director Yoshihiro Fukagawa to create a small television movie based on her motives. The song also became the main theme of this film [5] . And in December it was announced that “Yes” became the most requested song of the year on the USEN network of Japanese cable music provider [6] .
In the same year, with the third album “2012” released on March 21, 2012, the group first hit first place in the weekly chart of “ Orikon ”. In the first week, the album sold 118,000 copies, thus becoming the group’s best-selling release [2] [5] .
