History
To the south, on the Mbache River, is the small village of Mfezo , where Nelson Mandela , the future president of South Africa , was born, and he grew up in Tsgunu. Nelson’s father moved to Tsgun after he was removed from the post of head of the village of Mfezo by the colonial authorities. In his autobiography, Mandela refers to Tzgun as the place where he lived the happiest moments of his childhood.
After retiring from the post of President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela lived here until 2012 .
Tsgunu became the final resting place of Mandela . He was buried here on December 15, 2013 [3] [4] [5] .
