Game career

Ruiz played for five years with Real Madrid , making his debut in La Liga on April 21, 1957 in a home game against Celta , which ended in a 4-1 win. He played only 15 matches in the first three seasons combined, adding five full matches in the 1958/59 season as part of the European Cup , including a 2-0 win in the final against Reims .

In 1962, Ruiz joined Deportivo La A Coruña on a loan basis, during his only season with the club he was one of the key players, but the team was downgraded by the end of the season. After his dismissal from the Galacticos, he spent five of the next seven seasons in the Segund , and in one of two (1964/65 with Real Murcia ) his club flew out of the elite. He retired in 1970 at the age of 33, having 103 assets and five goals in La Liga.

Coach Career

Immediately after leaving sports, Ruiz began coaching, his first team was Real Murcia Imperial - the Farm Club Real Murcia. In the next three decades, he coached eight more teams intermittently.

From the 1979/80 season, Ruiz coached Las Palmas from the Premier League, but was fired early - in his second season, which the team finished in 12th place. In the 1984/85 and 1994/95 seasons, he spent 30 elite games with Elche and Logrones , both teams were eventually downgraded, and Logrones, having replaced five coaches throughout the season, scored only 13 points.
