History
A year after the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1993, the Volleyball Union of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (adopted by the FIVB and ECB in the same year) and the Republika Srpska Volleyball Union were formed on the territory of two parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only in April 2009, these two organizations formed the Volleyball Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of a voluntary association.
The women's volleyball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina entered the international arena much later than the other four national teams of countries that emerged on the territory of Yugoslavia, which was associated with the consequences of the war on its territory and organizational turmoil. At the same time, volleyball players from Republika Srpska joined the united team only after 2009. The debut tournament for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the qualifying tournament of the 2006 World Cup . In their first match, held April 27, 2005 in the French Saint-Dieu-de-Vosges , the Bosnian volleyball players lost to the Norwegian national team with a score of 1: 3. Later, during the tournament, the debutantes were defeated in the other three fights, taking the last place in the group and leaving the fight for a ticket to the world championship.
In subsequent years, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in 8 more qualifying tournaments of the World and European Championships, but each time could not compete with stronger rivals.
