Igor Akimovich Poluektov (born in 1937 ) was a Soviet physicist, an expert in semiconductor physics and quantum radio physics .

He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1961. Together with Yu. M. Popov and V. S. Roitberg, for the first time predicted the effect of self-induced transparency in semiconductors .
