Biography
Peter Lipachev was born on January 22, 1904 in the village of Ershovo (now the Belinsky district of the Penza region ). He graduated from eight classes of school. In 1928, Lipachev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in battles with the Basmachi in Central Asia. In 1930, Lipachev graduated from the Ulyanovsk Tank School, and later also graduated from the Shot course . Since March 1943 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By the spring of 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Pyotr Lipachev commanded the 848th Infantry Regiment of the 267th Infantry Division of the 51st Army of the 4th Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Crimea . Having crossed the Sivash , the Lipachev regiment successfully operated, destroying more than 500 enemy soldiers and officers in the first two days of fighting, and captured about 2,000 more. On May 7–9, 1944, Lipachev’s regiment participated in the assault on Sapun Mountain, capturing its peak and forcing German troops to retreat. Lipachev repeatedly personally raised his fighters to attack and personally participated in the battles. His regiment was one of the first to enter Sevastopol , playing an important role in his release [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945 for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders,” Lt. Col. Pyotr Lipachev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6467 [1 ] .
In September 1947, Lipachev was sacked. He lived at home. He died on June 8, 1957, was buried in the village of Poim, Belinsky district [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , World War 1 degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
In honor of Lipachev, his bust was installed in Belinsky [1] .
