Early life

Andrew Kevin Walker was born in Altoon, Pennsylvania , then in the same state he moved with his parents to the city of Mekaniksburg, where he grew up. After leaving school, Walker entered the University of Pennsylvania , dreaming of a career in film production . He graduated from the university in 1986 with a bachelor of art in film and television. Film career

Shortly after graduation, he moved to New York and began working as an assistant producer at the low-budget film company Brisun Entertainment. During this time, he worked on several projects, but could not achieve much success until 1991, when he completed work on the script "Seven". Walker decided to move to Los Angeles to sell his script. There, he personally contacted screenwriter David Kepp , who showed the script to the producers of New Line Cinema , who ended up acquiring the rights to him. However, it took almost three years to begin production of the film. While the project continued, Walker went to another job as a screenwriter, including a short job on the HBO television series Tales from the Crypt , and also wrote scripts for two other films, Brain Scan (1994) and an adaptation of Asylum ( 1995). The Seven went on production with David Fincher as a director and with Morgan Freeman , Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey in the lead roles. At some point in the production process, the studio suggested a number of changes - which would later happen throughout Walker's career - considering the script too dark for its target audience, but Fincher and Freeman supported Walker's original script, and he eventually went unchanged . [1] The film was praised by critics and huge box office success, earning 327,311,859 worldwide. [2] [3] This allowed Walker to make a name for himself in Hollywood.

Nevertheless, films based on Walker's scripts were not shot for another four years, although during this period he offered his scripts for the films The Game and Through the Horizon , but they were not accepted. [4] Finally, in 1999 Walker's script of “ 8 millimeters ” was reportedly sold for $ 1.25 million. And again the film company found the script too gloomy, and the studio asked Walker to make changes. With Joel Schumacher , as a director, Walker felt that he would no longer have to redo the script. But as it turned out, Schumacher supported the studio and made his own changes, which led to a breakdown in the relationship between the scriptwriter and the director. Walker left the project and refused to even watch the film, which was criticized by many critics.

In the same 1999 Walker, although unspecified in the credits, participated in the creation of scripts for the hits “ Echoes of Echo ” and “ Fight Club ”, which are considered cult films . The Walker adaptation of Washington Irving ’s short story “ The Legend of Sleepy Hollow ” also got into production called “ Sleepy Hollow, ” shot by Tim Burton . While Burton admired Walker's original script, he invited the playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Stoppard to adjust the script and reduce the level of violence in it. The film, starring Johnny Depp , is an example of box office success and success among critics. [five]

Since the mid-1990s, Walker has written several scripts that have never been put into production, such a script for the movie as about the superhero Silver Surfer , the version of X-Men ( 2000 ; his script was written in 1994), [6] and a film with the working title " Batman vs. Superman ". The latest film was announced for production, but Warner Bros. decided to restart the franchise separately, so Walker's script was delayed. [7] After the announcement and subsequent success of Batman: The Beginning and Superman Returns , the film seemed to be debugged constantly, although Wolfgang Petersen , who was supposed to make this film, continues to express interest in the project. Other projects

Walker also wrote the scripts for the two short films for the BMW movie series BMW Hire , starring Clive Owen : Ambush, dir. John Frankenheimer ; and "Tracking", dir. Wong Karwai .

More recently, Walker (in collaboration with David Self and Paul Attanasio ) wrote the script for the movie " The Wolfman ", a remake of the classic movie Universal Studios . A remake directed by Joe Johnston and starring Benicio Del Toro was released in 2010 .

Appearances in Films

Walker is known for his small cameos in films in which he works as a screenwriter. In The Room of Fear , he appears as a sleeping neighbor; in “Fight Club” three detectives are called, respectively, Andrew, Kevin and Walker; and in the movie "Seven" he is a corpse at the very beginning of the film. In the episode "My Maserati Makes 185" on HBO's " Beauties, " they say that Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the screenplay for the Aquaman movie.
