Pavlenko, Daria Vladimirovna

Darya Vladimir Pavlenko (born November 19, 1978 , Moscow ) is a Russian ballet dancer, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater , Honored Artist of Russia ( 2010 ) [1] .

Biography

Daria Pavlenko was born on November 19, 1978 in Moscow , in the family of a geologist. Subsequently, having lost her parents early, she moved to St. Petersburg and entered the Academy of Russian Ballet named after A. Ya. Vaganova , where at first Olga Iskanderova was her teacher, and the last three classes were Elena Evteeva .

In 1996 , having completed her studies, she was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Mariinsky Theater . She began her career in corps de ballet , gradually moving to solo parts. Gabriela Komleva became her teacher-tutor in the theater. In 1998 she performed the part of Maria in the chorus drama “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai” (choreography by R. Zakharov ), the Fairy of the Lilac in the ballet Sleeping Beauty and Gamzatti in the ballet La Bayadere .

Already a soloist , in her fourth season she made her debut in the theater in the role of Odette-Odile in the ballet Swan Lake , and also danced solo parts in Rubies and Emeralds in the ballet Jewels (choreography by J. Balanchine ). In August 2001, she first danced the title role in the ballet Giselle , in November of the same year, Mehmene-Banu in the ballet The Legend of Love (choreography by Yu. Grigorovich ), Siren in the ballet The Prodigal Son (choreography by J. Balanchine) . In January 2002, she first danced the title role in Raymond's ballet. In October 2003 , at the invitation of the London Covent Garden Theater , she first performed Nikiya in the ballet La Bayadere in the choreography of Natalia Makarova .

In the fifth season of work in the theater, Elena Evteeva, a teacher with whom she studied at the Academy, again became a teacher-tutor of Daria Pavlenko. In 2004, Daria Pavlenko officially received the title of prima ballerina .

She performed an extensive classical and modern repertoire on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater and on tours abroad.

In 2018, she officially said goodbye to the stage of the Mariinsky Theater.

From September 1, 2018, she was enrolled in the number of first-year full-time students at a budget place in the direction of preparation 03.03.01 “Choreographic art” (undergraduate level) of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory.

Family

  • Of the three sisters in the family of Darya Pavlenko, the older sister, also a ballerina, graduated from the Russian Ballet Academy named after A. Ya. Vaganova, worked for about 4 years at MAMT ( Moscow ), and currently teaches choreography in Philadelphia ( USA ).
  • Husband - Alexander Sergeev, the first soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet.
  • Daughters - Yaroslav, Miroslav.
