Biography
Born in 1806 , the son of a general from artillery Ivan Grigoryevich Gogel .
He was educated in the Page Corps, where he was released on April 20, 1823 from the pages of a page as a warrant officer in the Life Guards Volyn Regiment (commanded by the regiment of his future father-in-law D.S.Esakov). [one]
Being in the rank of lieutenant from August 1, 1827, he was appointed January 11, 1829 as adjutant to the Cesarevich Konstantin Pavlovich .
On November 17, 1830, during an uprising in Warsaw, he transferred Tsesarevich’s orders to the regiments and at that time was wounded by a bullet in his left hand.
In 1831, Gogel was sent to the Commander-in-Chief of the acting army, Count Dibich, and was with him during the battles near Kalushin (for the difference in this battle he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow) and on Grokhovsky Fields, and then with the chief of staff Army Count Tole and Quartermaster Neidgardt (during the battle of Ostroleka). Since May 19, he was in the detachment of Count Kuruta sent to Lithuania. June 7, participated in the battle on the Ponar Heights near Vilna, for which October 28 was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 3 degrees. For the difference in service, in the same year he was appointed an aide-adjutant .
Continuing to be in the Volynsky regiment, Gogel received the ranks of staff captain (April 10, 1832), captain (December 1, 1833) and colonel (July 25, 1837), as well as the estate of Stenzycy ( Radom province ) with an annual income of 5,000 zlotys .
In September 1837 , during a review near Voznesensk, he served as commandant and was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree with the Imperial Crown. On September 19, he was appointed acting chief of staff of the 2nd Infantry Corps.
On October 10, 1843, Gogel was promoted to major general with assertion and appointment to the retinue of His Majesty. He was in this position until April 25, 1846 and at that time was awarded the orders of St. Vladimir 3 degrees (1839) and St. Stanislav 1 degree (1845).
June 26, 1846 was appointed assistant chief of the main staff of troops located in the Caucasus. In this position he was awarded the Order of St. George 4 degrees for 25 years of service (1847) and St. Anna 1 degree (1847, the Imperial Crown in 1848).
In the Caucasus he became ill and died suddenly on October 12, 1850 . [2]
He was married to Maria Dmitrievna Esakova [3] (1809–1878) and had 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Rewards

- He was also awarded the orders of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow, St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree, St. Anna of the 2nd degree with the Imperial crown, St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree, St. Stanislav of the 1st degree and St. Anna of the 1st degree.
