Biography

Anatoly Leshchev was born on February 23, 1923 in the village of Korshunovka (now the Mikhailovsky District of the Amur Region ). He graduated from seven classes of school. In 1941, Leshchev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . From the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By August 1944, the sergeant Anatoly Leshchev commanded the 5th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 46th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Odessa region of the Ukrainian SSR [1] .

On August 23 - 24, 1944, Leshchev’s calculation, leading a battle near the village of Tatarbunary , destroyed 5 artillery pieces, 10 carts, and also forced about a hundred Romanian soldiers and officers to surrender. On August 25, 1944, during the battles for Ishmael , firing on barges on the Danube forced him to capitulate to the soldiers and officers of the enemy on them. During the crossing of the Danube, Leshchev’s calculation was the first to cross the river [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Sergeant Anatoly Leshchev was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star " number 7952 [1] .

In February 1946, Leshchev was demobilized. He lived and worked in the Far East, in Murmansk , Izmail. After retirement, he lived in Batumi . After the collapse of the USSR, Leshchev was forced to leave for Russia.

He died of a serious illness on March 26, 1995, and was buried in the city of Livny, Oryol Region [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree and the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
