Biography

Ivan Leshanov was born on June 29, 1920 in the village of Sabelskaya (now Breitovsky district of the Yaroslavl region ). He graduated from a junior high school and a factory apprenticeship school , after which he worked as a foreman in ship repair workshops. In October 1940, Leshanov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By September 1943, Red Army soldier Ivan Leshanov was the gunner of the 465th Infantry Regiment of the 167th Infantry Division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of September 29-30, 1943, as part of the calculation, Leshanov covered the crossing of the Soviet units across the Dnieper in the Vyshgorod area, personally destroyed 3 firing points, 1 battery of mortars, 1 artillery gun. On October 12–13, 1943, participating in battles at the Lyutezh bridgehead , Leshanov repulsed a number of German counterattacks, destroying 4 machine guns, 2 artillery pieces, and about 35 enemy soldiers and officers [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 9, 1944, for the “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown”, Red Army soldier Ivan Leshanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 4228 [1] .

In 1945, Leshanov graduated from junior lieutenant courses. In 1946, he was sacked. He lived and worked in the Chernivtsi and Zaporizhzhya regions, in the Crimea , in the Urals . In 1954, Leshanov graduated from the College of Agricultural Mechanization. Since 1959 he lived in the village of Podgornaya, Ust-Vymsky District, Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , worked as a procurer in the village general public. He died on January 10, 1976, was buried in the village of Gam in the same region [1] .

He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
