Geography
The village is located in the north-east of the Voronezh region ; on the East European Plain of Russia, in the forest-steppe zone, the climate is temperate continental.
The northern border of the village is formed by the Khoper River .
Located 5 km from the regional center of Povorino and 228 km from Voronezh ; the distance to Moscow is 615 km.
History
The first settlers on these lands appeared in the period from [1720 to 1730. Initially, the village was called Povorino, its name comes from the word "Povorina", which is indicated in the Dahl dictionary as "a transverse or oblique connection between two boards or beams."
According to the census of 1835, in the village there were 478 yards, and in 1887 - already 1254 yards and almost 9000 inhabitants.
When the new Christmas church was being built in 1870, a new name appeared near the village, which soon became entrenched to it. In the same year, upon the construction of a new railway station, the name Povorino was transferred to the station.

Education
In the village, there is the Moscow School of Public Education named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union A.N. Prokhorov (225 students are studying), MDOU Christmas kindergarten No. 1, MDOU Christmas kindergarten No. 2.
