Biography
Joan Mildred Summerfield was born in Brixton ( London ) [1] , was the only child in the family of pop singers Norman Field and Nina Norr [2] , she began her theatrical career in 1931 as a dancer. She used the pseudonym βGene Carrβ when she appeared as a chorus girl in London. She signed with Gainsborough Pictures during World War II. The turning point in her career came when she was given part in the 1945 dramatic film Fanny in the Gas Light . She has appeared in several British films of the 1940s and 1950s. [2]
Personal life
Kent was married to Austrian actor Joseph Ramarte from 1946 until her death in 1989 . They met on the set of the movie Caravan [2] . Actor Stuart Granger was the best man at their wedding [3] . They appeared together in the films Caravan and Trotti Tru .
Death
Kent died on November 30, 2013 at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds , after falling at her home [2] in Westorp [4] .
