Biography

Born on January 18, 1967 in the village of Ust-Nera, Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , where his parents worked on the construction of a mining and processing plant. Ukrainian. Then the family returned to Ukraine and lived in the city of Ordzhonikidze, Dnipropetrovsk region .

Feat

Since August 1999, as part of the units of the 247th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Guards Airborne Division, it took part in repelling the invasion of Chechen and international terrorists in Dagestan . Since August 19, at the head of a group of scouts, he conducted reconnaissance of clusters and fortifications of militants in the Botlikh region of Dagestan . When they returned to their group on August 22, the group was discovered and blocked by militants in the Donkey’s Heights area. In May 2009, the name of the Hero I.V. Khomenko was assigned to the Ust-Nersky secondary school of the Oymyakon ulus of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
