David Threlfall (Trelfall) ( born David Threlfall ; born October 12, 1953) is an English theater, film and television actor, director. Most famous for his role as Frank Gallagher in the series " Shameless " channel Channel 4 . He also directed several episodes as a director.

Biography
Trelfell was born into the family of plumber Tommy Trelfell in Barnage (a suburb of Manchester), Lancarshire, and has been supporting Manchester since childhood. He began performing on the stage of the school theater at Wilbraham High School . In 1971, Ann Geliko from 4 branches played a major role in the school production of the Rising Generation play. In December of that year, he played the role of John Proctor in the school play of The Crucible, after which he began working at the Manchester Youth Theater . Trellfell entered the Sheffield College of Art (now Sheffield Hallam University ), but studied there for only a year. Trellfell worked for several months and, after reviewing the list of theater colleges, entered the Manchester Polytechnic School of Drama . Upon receiving a degree, he auditioned for Mike Lee.
Trellfell also graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theater and since 1977 has starred in many roles on television and in films. His debut was the expressive role of Archer [1] . He is known for his television roles in the 1977 film Mike Lee Kiss of Death , Leslie Titmus in Paradise Postponed , Edgar in the production of King Lear by Granada Television ( Laurence Olivier played the main role). Trellfell also regularly starred in the sitcom Nightingales and Men of the World , and appeared as a guest actor in the films Cutting It , The Knock , CI5: The New Professionals and the series Ghosts . He played the role of Prince Charles in the film Diana: Her True Story (1993) and in the role of his father, Duke Philip in the 2005 film The Queen's Sister . David played the key role of Frank Gallagher in the series Shameless by Paul Abbott , 11 episodes of which were shown on Channel 4 between 2004 and 2013.
Trelfell also played the role of William Kritzinger in the BBC / HBO film Conspiracy on the Wannsee Conference . In 2006, he played the role of husband Nella Last in the television movie Housewife, 49 . He also starred in the films The Russia House, an adaptation of the novel by John Le Carré , Games of the Patriots , Master of the Seas: At the End of the Earth , the Golden Age (along with Cate Blanchett ), and Become John Lennon , where he played the role of George Smith, Uncle John Lennon.
Trellfell played a small role in the 2006 film Alien Autopsy and the role of Martin Blower in the 2007 film Type of Cool Pointing , along with actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost . He played in the series The Whistle Blowers . Trelfell starred in the title role of the BBC Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire documentary series as Emperor Constantine I.
Trellfell voiced the role of Iago in the audio production of Othello, the role of detective Paolo Baldi in the Baldi radio series BBC Radio 4 . [2] , read the radio novel of Joseph Conrad Heart of Darkness . In 1980, he played the role of Smayke in an eight-hour version of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby for the Royal Shakespeare Company in London and New York.
Trellfell played prominent roles in productions of Riddley Walker , Oedipus, the tragedy of Macbeth , Your Home In The West and Per Gynt on the stage of the Royal Exchange Theater of Manchester, the role of Bolingbrook in the play Richard II , Orgona in Tartuffe on the stage of the Royal National Theater of London. Trellfell played the role of Jack in When the Whales Came (1989) along with actors Paul Scofield and Helen Mirren . In 2010, he acted as a guest actor in Have I Got News for You .
On July 15, 2013, Trelfell received an honorary doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University .
Since 1995, Trelfell has been married to Bosnian actress Brane Bajic. [3] They met in 1994 during their work on The Count of Monte Cristo at the Royal Exchange Theater in Manchester. [3] .
Despite the fact that the character of Frank Gallagher of the series “Shameless” is a heavy smoker, David himself does not smoke and has an aversion to nicotine [4] .
