Lapitos or Lapetos ( Greek Λάπηθος , tour. Lapta ) is a municipality in the north of the island of Cyprus , in the territory of the Kyrenia region , 14 kilometers west of the city of Kyrenia . After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the city is controlled by the partially recognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus . The city of Lapithos is located on the site of the ancient city-state of Lapithos .

Content
History
The municipality of Lapithos was created in 1878 as a result of the administrative-territorial reform carried out in Cyprus by the British. A municipal council and the post of dimarch Lapitos were established, which were elected by the population. The municipal council lasted until the end of 1987 .
Currently, most of the population of Lapitos are Turks.

The community of Lapithos consists of six enorias ( Greek Ενορία - parish ), formerly separate villages:

- Enoria of St. Theodore
- Enoria of the Apostle Luke
- Enoria of St. Mine
- Enoria Saint Paraskevi
- Enoria of the True Forerunner
