Chiropteromyzidae (lat.) - a family of round-fly flies from the superfamily Sphaeroceroidea ^[1] ^[2] ^[3] .

Content

Description

Small flies 1-2 mm long. In the genitals of males there are 2 pairs of surstyles; edeagus is extremely long and thin, undivided. Females with cylindrical or semicircular spermathecus. Anal vein shortened and not reaching the edge of the wing. Adults were found near fungi and rotting wood and on carrion ^[4] .

Classification

A small group including 2 genera ^[5] . Sometimes considered as a tribe of Chiropteromyzini in the subfamily Heleomyzinae , or subfamily Chiropteromyzinae in the family Heleomyzidae ^[6] ^[7] ^[8] .
