Lawrence Whitney was born in 1891 in Millbury, Massachusetts . In 1912, at the Olympic Games in Stockholm, he won a bronze medal in shot put, became the 4th in the shot put competition with his left and right hands and the 20th in discus throwing; he also took part in a demonstration baseball competition.
