Richard Bird was born in 1892 in Shiloh, Indiana . In 1912, at the Stockholm Olympics, he won a silver medal in discus throw; He also took part in competitions in throwing the disc with his left and right hands (where he became the 17th), long jumps from the spot (where he became the 8th) and high jumps from the spot (where he became the 4th). He also took part in demonstration baseball competitions.
