Biography
Born in the village of Yurievo, Sukhinichi district, Kaluga region. He graduated from the parish school. After the October Revolution, he served in the county police.
In subsequent years, he worked as chief accountant of the Sukhinichi bank, manager of the Kaluga bank, head. Department of the Kaluga Regional Department of Agriculture.
At the beginning of 1954, among the 25-thousanders, according to the decision of the regional party committee, it was aimed at raising agricultural production. He was elected chairman of the Kirov collective farm (village of Kamenka (Kozelsky district) ), which he led from the lagging behind to the forefront. For 3 years (1953-1956) the gross grain harvest doubled, the grain yield reached 13 kg / ha (at that time it was an excellent indicator for the Non-Chernozem region ). The total income of the artel increased 5.5 times.
In November 1961, he wrote a statement to the regional committee of the CPSU with a request to send him to a lagging agricultural enterprise, and on party recommendation he was elected chairman of the Russia collective farm ( Podborki (Kozelsky district) ).
During the X five-year period, “Russia” won three times in the All-Union Socialist Competition and was awarded the challenge Red Banner of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR . Crop yields reached 35 centners per hectare.
On the collective farm 300 apartments were built, a kindergarten, a cultural center, a canteen, a secondary school, a hospital, a sports hall, a shopping center, and the only rural children's music school in the region.
G.I. Sonin remained in the presidency until his death at the age of 84. He died in a car accident.
He was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the sixth (1962) and seventh (1966) convocations.
