Dunusi ( Georgian ტნუსი , Azeri. Dunus ) is a village under the administrative subordination of the rural administrative-territorial unit of Gantiadi [5] , Dmanisi municipality , Kvemo-Kartli region of the Republic of Georgia with 100% Azerbaijani population . History
The name of the village was first mentioned in historical documents of 1536 . The first census in the village was carried out in 1870 , during a census conducted in the region. [eight]
Toponym
According to one version, the toponym of the village of Dunusi ( azerb. "Dunus" ) is associated with the name of the Turkic tribe Gamar ( azerb. "Qəmər" ), who came to the southern Caucasus from the northern regions. [eight]
Geography
The village is located on the Bashkecid plateau, 8 km from the regional center of Dmanisi , at an altitude of 1360 meters from sea level. [eight]
It borders with the city of Dmanisi , the villages of Javakhi , Gantiadi , Angrevani , Safarlo , Mamishlo , Dalari , Shindiliari , Tsitelsakdari , Boslebi , Kakliani , Patara-Dmanisi , Didi-Dmanisi , Mashavera , Vardisubani , Vake , Zemodiziri - Omaniziri , Otizmirizimi Amamlo , Bezaklo , Sakire and Mount Dmanisi Municipality . Population
According to the Caucasian calendar for 1912, 151 people lived in the village, mainly Tatars (Azerbaijanis). According to the State Statistics Committee of Georgia, according to the official census of 2002 , the population of the village of Dunusi is 454 people and is 100% Azerbaijanis . [ten]
Economics
The population is mainly engaged in sheep farming , cattle breeding and vegetable growing .
In 2010, the SOCAR Georgia Gas company, founded by the state oil company of Azerbaijan SOCAR , in accordance with the gasification program of Georgia, carried out a gas pipeline to several villages in the Dmanisi region , including the village of Dunusi. [11] The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Georgia Alexander Khetaguri, the Deputy Governor of the Kvemo-Kartli region , representatives of the public, as well as the director of SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammadov took part in the opening ceremony of the gas pipeline. [12] The given gas pipeline provided about 200 subscribers to the village with blue fuel. [13]
