Biography
At the beginning of the revolution, Ramon, as an older brother, stayed home to care for his parents and manage the farm. This aroused his interest in agriculture, which will remain one of the main elements in his life.
Although he did not take an active part directly in hostilities, he acted as the quartermaster of the military forces of Fidel and Raul and was responsible for the supply of weapons and provisions. Ramon also made alcohol-based fuels during a gas shortage in Cuba.
After the revolution, he refused to work on a family farm, since it became the property of the state. He continued to engage in agriculture and was mainly responsible for many of Cuba's agricultural initiatives after the revolution.
He was married, had two children, Ramona and Oneida Castro Rodriguez; lived in Havana .
