Atarbiy came from the Anatolian city of Ankira . In the years 362–363 he held the post of presidency (governor) of the eastern province of Euphratesia . About 364 years Atabrius was the governor of Macedonia .
Around 359, Atarbius sent a letter to the rhetoric Libany , in which he wrote that he had influence at the imperial court.
