History

Plant founding and early decades

During the reign of Peter I , weapons workshops were built in Bryansk that were engaged in the production of edged weapons: peak , halberd, and the like. January 12, 1783 by decree of Catherine II in Bryansk began the construction of an arsenal . Construction continued until 1789, but even earlier, the plant began testing and manufacturing tools . In 1799, the Moscow arms factory was attached to the plant, called the Bryansk Arsenal . The main products of the plant were guns, carriages , chargers and other weapons. The factory also provides training courses for officers . Arsenal produced weapons are used in various wars, including World War II and the Crimean War . After World War II, the number of employees of the plant was about 1000 people. In 1882, the cannon produced by the arsenal was awarded the I degree diploma at the All-Russian Exhibition in Moscow [2] [3] [4] .

First Half of the 20th Century

In 1910, the plant was renamed the Bryansk Arsenal of I category . After the October Revolution in November 1917, the enterprise passed into the charge of the Main Artillery Directorate of the People's Commissariat for Military Affairs of the RSFSR . In May 1918, the company was partially evacuated to Nizhny Novgorod due to possible intervention . A year later, the company returned to Bryansk, the production and repair of guns for the Red Army began . In June 1919, the plant received the name Bryansk Red Artillery Mechanical Plant of the Gun-Arsenal Trust. In the early 1920s, the plant employed about 2,000 people. In 1927, the company was renamed again, the new name is Bryansk Mechanical Plant No. 13 . Since 1936, the plant receives the name of S. M. Kirov [2] [3] .

Years of World War II

After the start of World War II in the summer of 1941, the plant was evacuated to the city of Ust-Katav in the Urals . About 10 thousand employees and their families are evacuated to the rear. The evacuation is managed by the People’s Commissariat of Armament and gets the name Bryansk Plant No. 13 named after Kirov . In autumn 1943, Bryansk was liberated from the German invaders, and the restoration of the plant began, the shops and buildings of which were almost completely destroyed during the occupation. Restoration work lasted about a year. On May 9, 1944, the plant was again renamed and became known as the Bryansk Plant No. 790 [2] [3] [4] .

Dormash

After the war, by decree of the Council of People 's Commissars of the USSR of February 17, 1946, the plant was subordinated to the Main Directorate for the Production of Road Machines ( Glavdormash ), which was subordinate to the Ministry of Construction and Road Engineering ( Ministry of Construction and Mining ). By order of the Ministry No. 14 of January 26, 1948, the company receives the name Bryansk Road Machine Plant , abbreviated "Dormash". In 1967, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the revolution, the company received the name Bryansk Road Machine Plant named after the 50th anniversary of the Great October Revolution . In January 1971, the plant was awarded the Order of Lenin for the early implementation of the plan of the 8th Five-Year Plan , for the successful development of the production of new road and reclamation machines. In February 1983, the plant was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for the successful implementation of production plans and socialist obligations, as well as in connection with the 200th anniversary of its founding [2] [3] .

Bryansk Arsenal

In September 1993, the Bryansk Arsenal OJSC , which became the successor to Dormash, was registered by a resolution of the administration of the Sovetsky District of the city ​​of Bryansk. The main products of the enterprise remain road cars - motor graders, road mills, etc. In 2001, the plant is part of RusPromAvto holding . After its restructuring in 2005, the GAZ Group holding was created, of which the plant becomes a part (the Special Equipment division). In the second half of 2000, the plant’s products repeatedly received diplomas of the program “ 100 Best Products of Russia ”. In 2007, the old territory of the plant is sold to the company Bryanskstroyinvest, which plans to use it for residential development and for the construction of shopping, entertainment and office complexes. In May 2012, a joint venture is established with Terex Corporation ( USA ), producing construction and other industrial equipment [1] [3] .

Products

From the time of its founding at the end of the 18th century until the beginning of the 20th century, the plant mainly produced military products: guns, shells, carriages, and artillery devices. After the October Revolution, in the 1920s, the company began producing textile equipment, parts for steam locomotives and wagons , and consumer goods . In the late 1930s, the production of mortars began [2] [3] .

In 1946, after the formation of Dormash, the main products of the plant became road and construction equipment. The company is developing the production of conveyors, trailed graders and graders, mixers of asphalt concrete , bitumen pumps , road milling machines . In 1957, the plant manufactured the first powerful earth moving machine in the USSR, it became a self - propelled grader elevator with a capacity of 300 liters. with. The plant's products receive high awards: in 1958, the D-369 grader was awarded a gold medal at the International Exhibition in Brussels , in the same year, the D-446 grader was awarded the VDNH gold medal. The company's products are also in demand abroad and exported to Romania , Yugoslavia , Cuba and several other countries [2] [3] .

In 1972, the plant began to produce ETR-253 rotary trench excavators for opening trenches for trunk pipelines . The role of export is growing: for example, the D-99 grader is shipped to 18 countries. The level and quality of products is increasing. In 1976, the D-659B backhoe loader was recognized as the best machine of the year by decision of the State Committee for Science and Technology , the ETR-253A bucket-wheel excavator excavator receives the State Quality Mark . Soon begins the production of ETZ -406 excavator-drains, equipped with a hydraulic drive of the working body, conveyor and creeper . This model of the drainer in 1978 replaces the former in production D-459B and receives a quality mark in 1980. The list of products manufactured by Dormash during its existence is wide. At different times, the plant produced bulldozers , stubble collectors, loaders , cultivators, scrapers , graders, grader elevators, slope planners, conveyor belts, bitumen pumps, asphalt mixers, concrete melting machines, drains, as well as various parts and experimental machines construction machines, wagons, agricultural machines, textile equipment, etc. [2] [3]

After the restructuring of the enterprise and the formation of the Bryansk Arsenal in the 1990s, the plant continues to produce mainly road equipment. The main products of the enterprise are graders.
