Habitat and habitat

Boreal Euro-Asian view. It grows in southern Scandinavia , in Central Europe and the Caucasus . In Russia - in the European part, in the Caucasus and the south of Western Siberia [2] .

It usually grows on forest edges, vacant lots and along roadsides.

Perennial herbaceous plant . Height from 30 to 100 cm. Possesses vertically extending thickened storage accessory roots. Rhizome with a golden hue.

The stem is erect, ribbed, hollow. The whole plant is covered with stiff short hairs. The basal and lower stem leaves are long-leaved oblong, heart-ovate, the middle stem are ovate, the upper ones are lanceolate, sessile.

Inflorescence is a long, one-sided brush . The flowers are light or dark purple with a length of 1.5 to 3.5 cm, the corolla is ciliated along the edge, the sepals are bent back.

The fruit is a box . Flowering in July - August, fruiting in August - September. Each plant can produce up to 15,000 seeds with high germination and volatility due to its lightness and small wing.

In the first year of development, a small rosette of leaves and a stem root are formed, and in the next spring numerous new rosettes and roots develop from the buds of the root.

It is included in the Red Books of the following constituent entities of the Russian Federation: Volgograd Region , Kalmykia , Tomsk Region , Udmurtia , Yaroslavl Region , as well as in the Red Book of the city of Sevastopol [3] .
