Ronkainen, Mika

Mika Ronkainen ( Finnish. Mika Ronkainen ; August 6, 1970 , Kuusamo , Finland ) is a Finnish documentary filmmaker, winner of many awards at various film festivals. In June 2013, the American weekly Variety included Ronkainen in the top ten most interesting European filmmakers [1] .

Biography

Born on August 6, 1970 in Kuusamo.

The well-known came to Ronkainen in 2003, after the release of the screaming men documentary about the unique choir from Oulu . The film was awarded the Sundance Festival Award.

In 2009, the film " Macho at Leisure " was released, which tells in a humorous style about the male friendship of two players of the world's northernmost rugby club OYUS Rugby from Oulu. Finnish critics strongly disagreed on this film: along with rave reviews, there were extremely negative ones.

In February 2013, Ronkainen film ( Finnish. Laulu koti-ikävästä ) won the documentary film festival in Gothenburg [2] , and in March of the same year the film received three awards at once at the Tampere Film Festival . In November 2013, this film became the winner at the Northern Character-2013 documentary film festival in Murmansk in the Documentary Film nomination [3] .
