Biography
The son of a fireman. Before the revolutions, he worked in underground Ukrainian organizations and edited an underground journal. In 1917 he graduated from the Poltava Teachers Institute . He taught in the Settlement in the Poltava region and in Priluki.
He began his literary work in the 1920s. Member of the organization of peasant writers of Ukraine " Plow ".
From 1922 to 1930 - he lived in Priluki. He worked as an inspector of social education in the Prilutsk district department of education, a teacher of Ukrainian and Russian languages, as a secretary of the editorial board of the newspaper Pravda Priluchchiny, in which his satirical articles were constantly published under the pseudonym A. Meteor. He led the local branch of the Plow, organized the release of the manuscript almanac “The First Furrow”, and then the systematic release of printed literary pages in the newspaper “Prilutskaya Pravda”, published his poems and humoresques in the same place.
He attracted attention in 1927 when his wreath of sonnets (“On the Mezh”) was printed in the almanac “Plow”, in which he tried to reflect Soviet modernity. He became a member of the governing body of the Plow. At the same time, he published in the journal “Pluzhanin” a historical-critical article “On the hat for the development of the Plow”, which has still not lost its reference value.
Since 1930, Vedmitsky lived in Kharkov . While studying in graduate school, he published dozens of articles, reviews, and bibliographic reviews in periodicals. Then for some time he worked at the T. Shevchenko Institute of Literature .
In 1938 he defended at the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. Herzen Ph.D. thesis, and in 1939 he became head of the Department of Russian literature at the Stavropol Pedagogical Institute . He headed the department until 1950, when, avoiding repression, he moved to Orsk , in Transcaspius.
At the Orsk Pedagogical Institute, he gave lecture courses on the introduction of literary studies, folklore, and the methodology of literature. In recent years, he headed the department of Russian and foreign literature.
He died in Orsk and is buried in the old city cemetery.
Creativity
At the beginning of the 1920s he published his first collections of poems and comic strips: “Pid up with your arms” (together with Khomenko and Stanko, 1923), “In the halo” (1924), “With the Lift through the Villages” (1925). Soon the works of A. Vedmitsky began to appear in Kharkov. Followed by collections of poems and short stories “To make a poplar noise” (1927), “Agatori” (1927), “Mow” (1929), “Jalabuda i Stribunets” (1930), “Vugil” (1931), etc.
